Hammond Woods Open Space

CHPT is pleased to be the recipient of a beautiful 27.44 acre parcel of open space located off of Hammond Hill Road and abutting Route 20. It is a part of the Hammond Woods subdivision. The property is bounded by many beautiful stone walls and contains a man-made pond and an old walking trail. We are delighted that the developers, Dan Rourke and Richard Hayes of Hammond Woods Development Corporation, recognize the value of the stone walls and choose to preserve them as part of the open space. The current trail will be upgraded during the completion of this development. Then, the parcel will be open to the public for non-motorized passive recreation. A generous endowment will be used for trail upkeep, signage installation, and other routine maintenance. We are very excited about this property because it has great potential for passive recreation!

There is a short, but pretty existing trail down to the man-made pond.

The pond's fall foliage. A Blue Heron was spotted here.

These wild turkey tracks were found alongside some deer tracks and other unidentified tracks. We were treated to a sighting of 5 wild turkeys during our recent October visit.

Stone walls mark the
boundaries of this large parcel.
